This guideline is intended to be a training tool and a resource for workers and employers to safely design, fabricate, construct, operate and maintain small-scale biomass gasification facilities.
The Guideline is applicable with the following constraints:
- The maximum scale of the gasification plant was agreed to be about 1 MWe. The reason is that large companies do have normally their safety rules in place;
- This means in principle only fixed bed gasifier designs. However, most parts are also valid to other designs and even other thermal conversion processes;
- The use of contaminated biomass is beyond the scope of this Guideline.
